A. The Techniques that you will learn are suitable from birth, and the Baby Massage class is aimed for babies that are not yet at the crawling stage. This doesn't mean your baby will outgrow the benefits of baby massage, so the skills you learn in class will benefit you and baby far beyond this point!
A. Baby Yoga is suitable from 8 weeks old, and is subject to a satisfactory hip check by your baby's GP. The Baby Yoga class is also aimed for babies that are not yet at the crawling stage, however, you will be able to use the skills you learn far beyond this point!
A. Research has shown that moderate pressure is most beneficial for babies when carrying out baby massage. We don't want to be heavy handed with our delicate little bundles, we just want the skin to move very gently. If you place your thumb on your hand to the pressure which causes the skin to go white briefly – this is the pressure we are looking for. Or even press gently on your closed eyelid to the point where it feels comfortable, but not beyond - this is the perfect pressure for your baby's delicate skin.
A. It is not recommended that baby massage is carried out if your baby is unwell with a temperature, or on areas where your baby’s skin is broken.
It is also not recommended that baby massage is carried out within 72 hours of baby receiving their immunisations, however, if you want to come to class after immunisations you are more than welcome to come with baby to watch and learn the techniques.
There are some medical conditions were baby massage may not be appropriate. If your baby has a diagnosed medical condition you will need to get approval from your baby's doctor/ medical practitioner.

Crying is just your baby's way of communicating and is absolutely expected during class. All baby massage groups are baby led, so when they need fed or changed you just go ahead and meet their needs. We also follow a baby’s cues and behaviours, and only continue the massage if baby is happy to.
